Calcium and Magnesium
Calcium and Magnesium are important minerals for optimum health. Calcium and Magnesium are essential for healthy bones and teeth and are also important for maintaining muscle and nerve health. The recommended ratio of calcium to magnesium is 2:1.
Zinc
Zinc, also an important mineral for optimal health, is a component of all body tissues, organs and body secretions. It is found in high concentrations in the retina of the eye, liver, kidneys, reproductive fluids, and the prostate gland in men. It plays a role in virtually all biochemical pathways and physiological processes. Studies indicate that Zinc is essential to bone health because it is necessary for maintenance of optimal bone density. One of the first signs of Zinc deficiency is a lost of taste and smell. The body does not manufacture Zinc, so it is necessary to obtain it from external sources.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D helps the body absorb Calcium from the intestinal tract. This absorption is crucial to bone health and promotes bone mineralization. Without Vitamin D, bones can become thin, brittle, soft, or misshapen.
Betaine HCl and Glutamic Acid HCl
Additionally, this formula contains Betaine HCl and Glutamic Acid HCl. These are added to help maximize the digestion of Calcium, Magnesium, and Zinc. This is especially important due to the fact that hydrochloric acid levels typically decline with age.
